Today I have given myself the task of choosing my major.

Business Management

or English.

I'm eating raspberry yogurt.

Each of these four have their own unique pros and cons. Communications would be a great way to develop my writing ability, but it has a strong journalistic focus, which I don't prefer. Business Management would prepare me for starting my own photography studio/business, but it has Accounting and Statistics, which rather goes against my no-more-math resolution. Photography is a degree I would enjoy immensely, but it is not practical. It's application would be slim. English would be the simplest of the degrees and I would sincerely enjoy it, but I don't know how useful it would be in terms of getting a job.

My dilemma is clear and my yogurt is gone.

  1. As for communications:
For one, even if journalism isn't your thing, I know that a lot of fiction writers were trained as journalists. Observing and setting down factually real events can be helpful in concocting altogether new ones. Sometimes I wish I had done journalism.
On the other hand, I know at my school, communications is a bit of a "fake" major. In other words, you have to take a lot of ridiculous classes for your social conscious and don't actually learn much. I don't know how it is at other schools.

I'll put your decisions in my magic book of prayer. <3

  2. Communications. I was just talking to someone the other day who's majoring in it and they told me it's a very helpful starting point for a lot of different things. Like a ton of different jobs have that as the foundation and that if you went on to get a masters (which you wouldn't *have* to), you could go into almost anything. Both Joe and Jenny Rigney are communications majors....... :)

  3. English isn't everything it's cracked up to be. Unless you get into a really good school. Otherwise, you just end up inundating your brain with trash. Arguing with professors is wicked fun, though.
    Praying for you. <3
