Dates and Hurr Durr Derp

So I went on a date the other day with this guy and hurr durr derp face Joston Bobber (our latest joke - Joston comes with us everywhere!)

The date included ice-encapsulated twigs and puddle manuvers,

soppy bootprints in rain-patterned snow,

and peppery sweet potato fries. Yep, good date.

In the process of emerging from hermitage, I got together to pilate and pray it up with my lovely godly friend Julia

and then load up on caffeine and scripture with another marvelous friend Caitey. This, this right here is why God gives us community, people! It's to encourage and refine us and just let us enjoy someone else's smile and feel the power of their prayers. Love you girls.

So this lazy Saturday morning, I went on another date that included whipped cream and checkers,

again with this fine fellow. Hey there, Stevie! He might look like he just woke up, but it's just the sunlight at Dunn Bros that's causing squintage. We attempted to play checkers, but went shopping instead. Much more fun. :)

When I got home, I went to muck about in my room and wash my sheets and such. In the process, I discovered that my journals and my sheets are all the same color. I wouldn't joke about this. I also bought them in the same order, red sheets and journal first, then sky blue sheets and journal, then fuchia over the period of several years.

Crazy, no?

I have a treasure chest upon which I hang my collection of earrings. These are most of my earrings, apart from my diamond studs which are on semi-permanent loan to little sis as makes her piercings permanent. If you note the odd little pair second to the right, they are combined halves of my two favorite sets of earrings, which I lost one side of each. I have worn that pair as a tribute to entropy (noun. lack of order or predictability).

Inside, I conceal my random collection of necklaces, brooches and oh, there are my gold hoops.

Here's my perfume collection! I'll make the picture big so you can see it. :) From the left, I have J'Lo Glow, a random bow bottlet, Clinique Happy, Intimately Beckham, J'Lo's Love and Glamour, Lady Stetson and Fruits and Passion's Orchid.

Before I go, I've been thinking lately about how temptation will often have the element of urgency. It's like Satan is standing there when we face an opportunity to sin, shooting little darts of panic and tension towards us, whispering hurriedly, "Hurry up and do it. This really will make you happy! Think about it later. Just try it now. C'mon, you might not get another chance. This is a limited time offer!"

So next time you feel an unholy urgency to do something, take a moment. Ask God to help you stop and think*. He can give you grace to fear him more and to take another step towards what will make you truly happy - himself

  3. First, is it just me or does that guy look like he could be a Jonas brother. Second. your writing just keeps getting better and better. Third what you said about temptation? I've been writing on the evil one and his minions and their tactics lately – a little trip through the imprecatory Psalms – and I might just quote what you wrote here about Satan – if I do, I'll of course do all of the appropriate linkage :) God bless you Ruthiey.

  6. Oh man, I love J'Lo Glow. I'm almost out of mine:P
Love what you said about temptation, by the way. I have noticed the urgency too.."Hurry up! Just do it!" is what often runs through my head..but those who endure temptation will recieve good blessings. Good job, Ruthiey!

  7. I hope all is okay Ruthiey, no posts for a while – I hope it's just because you're too busy – so I hope it's all good. That's all – I've just been coming by – and I wanted you to know. God bless and keep you Ruthiey.
