Stuck On The Gospel

I was in my room, trying to concentrate while I heard chatter upstairs and the piano through the wall on my left. So I went outside into the morning sunshine and got stuck in Luke 2*. Stuck in a good way... stuck on the Gospel kind of good. Two things.

First, Jesus was and is the single most joyful person to enter this world - in Himself, joy in His Father and to us, the hopeless, helpless sinners He redeemed! He is the good news of great joy.

Second and this one made me smile. Looking down at us saints, the angels must shake their heads at how anxious and worried we are. That's why they said, "...on earth, peace among those with whom He is pleased!"

Listen carefully, oh my soul. God is pleased with you. His own Son secured your ransom irreversibly on the excruciating cross. Jesus died and dragged all your sins and failures with Him to the grave. Jesus rose to clothe you in royal robes and lead you into the Holy of Holies. Even now, His voice repeats your name as He prays for you.

Oh my soul, be at peace. Give glory to God in the highest and be at peace.

To A Friend

Jesus, you are strong enough to hush wild waters and make the high winds cease. Please be with my friend. Speak to her heart with a tender, yet firm, "Peace! Be Still!" and replace apathetic numbness with a warm, alive, falling-into-you kind of peace. You are able to make her the woman you want her to be. Rebuke us too, Father. Why are we so afraid? Why do we have so little faith?

''God is on our side. We should be neither discouraged nor dismayed. We have an Almighty helper, even Jesus the Captain of our Salvation, who is ever with us and assures us that we shall eventually be more than conquerors though Him. Fear not, you shall overcome, for who can defeat Omnipotence? Fight on "looking unto Jesus" and though long and stern be the conflict, sweet will be the victory and glorious the promised reward.''* -Spurgeon

I love you, dearest. Be strong. God is with you.

Revamping The Blog

Every time I put a new header photo up and start to reform the design of my blog, I always stop and ask myself, "What on earth were you thinking?" I never believe it's going to look good again and my blog will forever be in shambles. Yet somehow, it manages to come together every time. Check out the new design!

In other news, I did something brave today. First off, I went out for icecream with Mrs. C. That was a little brave in this cold weather. She was talking to me about friendship and said, "I've been praying and reading a lot about this lately and one thing has really stuck out to me. Christian brothers and sisters need to live in unity." Her words were an answer to prayer.

I've needed to talk to a friend about an issue we've had. I've been in this painful limbo for months, praying that God would either take the issue away or show me what to do. Mrs. C's words helped me decide that avoiding the issue wasn't helping. So my friend and I talked. It didn't fix everything, but we're on our way.

Furthermore, nothing and everything and tomorrow and the next day. ^_^
