Thankfulness + Pictures

Hi friends, as you know, I'm coming up with 1000 things I'm thankful for, by inspiration of Ann Voskamp. I'm a little over halfway and it's been a good experience to do. I added some pictures of some of the things this time!

Today is actually a good day to be posting this because it was a rotten, stinking, horrible no-good day. I'll confess I was whiny at some points. Yes, I was. I'm not going to pretend to be perfect.

624 catching up with my lovely friend Anna
625 savoring the Psalms
626 having an easier second semester
627 earning how to encourage by trial and error

628 wearing the green scarf my friend Sarai brought me from England
629 extra moments with God
630 Pastor Jeff discipling/playing chess with my brother Andrew

631 pumpkin soup with Jak at her house
632 a dad who wants to be involved in my life

633 chilling with my little sisters <3 <3
634 when coffee shops start offering pumpkin spice coffee instead of blueberry

In that last picture, it looks like my hair is red, but I assure you, it remains a blonde-brown color. I've been considering going red again, though. :D

Much love and welcome to any new readers! I hope you enjoy it here in my little corner of the blogging world.

  3. Hi Ruthiey! Thanks for commenting on my blog about marriage today :) I was so surprised by Anna's! What an encouragement to know that something I wrote about marriage can bless people I've never even met. Thanks for letting me know you read it!

aaaaand your hair definitely looks red in the last picture and it definitely looks awesome! I say go for it!

  4. Do you ever worry about doubling up on what you're thankful for? I'm starting my own list! You totally inspired it!

Thanks for following my blog and for commenting. It's comforting to know that I can be honest, and not shamed. Supported and not have to hide in fear any more.

Ps. I love going back and reading reallly old blog posts of yours!

  5. I'm sorry your day was crappy. Sometimes it just happens, and, man, it's certainly not a party. *squish*

Also, I think I'll go red sometime, too. You definitely should. You could totally be a wicked awesome Black Widow. (Black Widow equals supervillian from the Marvel world who in the Iron Man/Avengers movies is currently good. Or acting that way. ^_^)

  6. Ruthiey, firsthim, I'm sorry I haven't been here for so long. From the last post Sara wrote in August, and the subsequent posts by her friends, I could read the handwriting on the wall. And while she was leaving this earth all I could do is think of her , write of her, read her. And now Sara has gone home to be with God and I’ m breath him only starting to get back to reading the blogs I heart – and I heart YOURS! And today I smile as I read about your grumpy day – but a thank you list still the same – I know I've written one or two or three of these myself. To find the thank you's when things aren't very thank-ish – I think that's the heart of what Ann writes - and my favorite from your list was chilling with your little sisters – I only have one – but I treasure my time with her. The bonds you guys have will be around, hopefully another 60 or 70 or 80 years – think about that! Anyway I always heart reading your words, God bless you Ruthiey.

  7. This is a BRILLIANT idea! So often we are busy focusing on the "not so great" things that we forget to count our blessings. I love it!

(I'm totally with you on the pumpkin spice flavors, girly ;) )
